Our History |
The church was started in 1964 by the late Rev. Benjamin Hendricks in Bowens, Clarendon. The name was then Mount Zion A.M.E. In 1992, the church was relocated to 64 Church Street, New Bowens, Clarendon. In 1996, due to health challenges, Rev. Hendricks retired; and Rev. Newton Dixon was sent to pastor the church.
In 2002, the name was changed to honor Bishop Frederick Talbot, and became Frederick Talbot Chapel A.M.E. In 47 years the church has had nine pastors. The remaining seven: Rev. Stephanie Butler, Rev. Wilson, Rev. Jazreen Davis, Rev. Caudria Pearson-Newell, Rev. Colin Grant, Rev. Enid Samuels, and now Rev. Dr. Emily A. Pardue, 2017. Submitted by Sheila Hutchinson, Lead Steward. |
